i don't think it's "peddling" the gospel at all - it's simply finding creative ways to get people to listen. churches have been putting on vacation bible schools for kids for longer than i've been around - in which they pack a couple weeks with "fun" activities that will draw kids in where they can then hear the gospel. this is along the same lines.
